Crafton Wins North Carolina Education Lottery 200

Matt Crafton survived the mayhem to win the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch appeared to be headed for another Craftsman Truck victory, when Ron Hornaday got loose a slid up into him, sending him into the wall, ending his victory hopes.

Eric Darnell was leading a restart with seven laps to go when he spun his tires. Johnny Benson, who assumed the lead when that happened, was ordered to pit road for jumping the restart.

Crafton held off Chad McCumbee on the green-white-checkered to win his first career victory.

Top 10: Crafton, McCumbee, Brendan Gaughan, Eric Darnell, Rick Crawford, Terry Cook, Dennis Setzer, Busch, Landon Cassill, Mike Skinner.

Notables: Benson (11th), Todd Bodine (12th), and Hornday (23rd).

Bodine spun Hornaday while battling for second, which set up the green-white-checkered finish. Bodine was penalized for rough driving.

Hornaday said:

He just flat tried to kill me. You don’t spin somebody out on the straightaway. Life is too short to have an idiot like that.

For his part, Bodine said:

I was just trying to help him. And now I look like a goat.
