Newman, Wife Deny Agreement With Stewart Haas is reporting that Ryan Newman and his wife, Friday, said that no official deal has been signed o drive for Stewart Haas Racing next season.

Krissis Newman, Ryan’s wife, wrote in a blog posting:

Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet! There have been some recent articles posted that reporters have put out that sound factual. However, Ryan has not verbally agreed to anything and is still working on his 2009 and future plans. It is funny how much speculation has been going on about Ryan’s future. Everyone will know when the deal is signed. … Sorry to disappoint, just don’t want anyone to jump to conclusions.

SHR also official denied the verbal agreement between the team and Newman, with SHR spokesman Mike Arning saying:

Stewart-Haas Racing has had, and will continue to have, lots of talks with lots of drivers. To say that any type of agreement, verbal or otherwise, has been reached with any particular driver is premature.

Lately, drivers, teams, and sponsors have done everything they can to deny internet reports, only to have an official announcement days, weeks, or even months later. It is what it is. I’m not saying that Newman has signed anything, nor am I implying that he’s a lock to drive to SHR.

But, I do expect everyone involved in deals to deny everything until things are signed, and ready to officially be announced. NASCAR is a sport with some of the worst-kept secrets. But the fact remains that teams still take painstaking measures to try to keep things a secret.

I expect Newman to drive for Tony Stewart, and SHR next season in the No. 4.
