Bill Davis Sells Majority Of BDR

Bill Davis has sold majority interest in Bill Davis Racing and all of Triad Racing Development to Mike Held and Marty Gaunt.

Triad Racing Technologies will continue to supply engines, chassis, and bodies for all three of NASCAR’s major series.

The team has not committed to fielding the No. 22 Toyota for the 2009 season, but the new owners said that they hope to field the car. Expect an announcement of the team’s plan in January.

Davis will remain with the team as a consultant.

Who didn’t infact see this coming ? It was only a matter of time and it won’t be the last such transaction that’ll take place. The whole of NASCAR is caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. As it now tries to sort itself out and as to what direction the sport’ll proceed in. It wouldn’t surprise me if the season also was curtailed somewhat as well.

Sponsors are said to be dropping like flies at the moment unwilling to pour tens of millions into the sport any longer. Even the Big Three have cut back on their spending within the sport. So it doesn’t augur well as to the direct future at this juncture. They can ill afford to accept money from the Federal government and still go out and spend it within NASCAR without being held accountable for that expenditure.
