Dale Earnhardt Jr recovered from a pit road speeding penalty in the Food City 500 at Bristol to finish seventh. But, despite what some say, Earnhardt Jr’s rally had little to do with what crew chief Lance McGrew said over the radio.
On the final restart of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway, Jimmie Johnson and his four fresh tires started fifth behind cars that took two tires. Ten laps later, he took the lead from Tony Stewart. He led the final six laps to earn his 50th career race, and first at Bristol.
Justin Allgaier took the lead from Penske Championship Racing teammate Brad Keselowski on a great restart on lap 274. Keselowski gave his teammate plenty of room and pressured him for the lead several times. But, Allgaier ran mistake-free, and led the final 27 laps, winning the Scotts Turf Builder 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Michael Waltrip Racing plans to enter Ryan Truex in six Nationwide Series races this season. Truex, the younger brother of MWR teammate Martin Truex Jr, is expected to race at Gateway, Michigan, Richmond, Kansas, Charlotte, and Homestead.
