Roush Fenway Racing announced that Rick Viers has been named crew chief for the team’s No. 16 Nationwide Ford Fusion beginning with this weekend’s Bucyrus 200 at Road America. Colin Braun will be behind the wheel this weekend. He has been splitting seat time with Brian Ickler in the No. 16.

Viers said:

Just being here for a very short period of time, I can see there are a ton of resources at my disposal and it’s a highly engineer-driven shop, which I really enjoy. I feel like Road America is a really good place for me to start having Colin in the car.

Viers joins RFR from Baker Curb Racing, where he served as the crew chief for the No. 27 Ford. BCR’s No. 27 is losing its major sponsor thanks to new Food and Drug Administration rules that restrict smokeless tobacco sponsorships.
