SMI Officially Requests Kentucky Be Added To Cup Schedule

First International Speedway Corporation formally petitioned NASCAR to give Kansas Speedway a second Sprint Cup date in 2011. Now, it looks like Speedway Motorsports Inc has formally requested that Kentucky Speedway be added to the Sprint Cup schedule in 2011.

While the track was designed for a Sprint Cup race, it has yet to host a Cup event there. Thus far the track has held Nationwide and Camping World Truck series races there. Additionally, the track has hosted IZOD Indy Car and Indy Lights series races there.
