Verizon Leaving Penske N’Wide Dodge, Allgaier Out?

Rumor has it that Verizon will not return to Penske Racing’s No. 12 Nationwide Series Dodge in 2011, instead choosing to focus on Penske’s IndyCar program. As a result, Justin Allgaier has been given permission to speak to other teams about employment next season.

Jonathan Gibson, vice president of marketing and communications with Penske, said:

It’s true that they’re evaluating their NASCAR investment right now and it’s true that they may increase their involvement with our IndyCar program.

Gibson wouldn’t comment on the rumor about Allgaier, but he did indicate that the team is looking for a sponsor for 2011 and would like to keep Allgaier next season.
