Stewart Says Goal Is Still Four Teams For SHR

Tony Stewart, speaking to reporters in a teleconference, said that the goal is still for Stewart Haas Racing to field four Sprint Cup entries, eventually. But, he said that the team is not going to expand next season. He indicated that a four-car stable is a goal down the road.

Stewart said:

Yes, I mean, down the road we want to have a third team and a fourth team after that. … [T]here’s a lot of challenges right now in the sport. It’s hard keeping the two cars that we have financed right now. It is something we want to do. It didn’t work out to do for us for the 2011 season. When we get the right opportunity, and the right partner and driver, if we can get that combination, we’re definitely interested in that for sure.
