Following a disastrous outing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Billy Manchester has been replaced as gasman for the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing team, and drive Greg Biffle.
Biffle had a legitimate shot to win the Kobalt Tools 400, but was unable to capitalize in part because his Manchester could not get the car full during pit stops. Biffle routinely lost positions on pit road, and had to come in earlier than other competitors.
In Manchester’s defense, the switch to the new self-ventilating fuel system has caused teams to have to adjust.
Ryan Dextraze will take over starting this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Manchester will continue as the team’s shock specialist. He will also have windshield duties on race day.
Update: Brian Carr served as gas man at Bristol instead of Ryan Dextraze. Dextraze will serve as gas man for this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway.
