Bayne Likely To Miss Darlington Nationwide Race

[1]Roush Fenway Racing driver Trevor Bayne still remains hospitalized [2] due to symptoms thought to be related to an insect bite.

Bayne was admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on April 27th for fatigue and nausea.  Doctors do not have a final diagnosis, but they believe he will likely miss the Nationwide Series Royal Purple 200 at Darlington Raceway.

An official announcement is expected Thursday. RFR developmental driver Chris Buescher is likely to be his replacement.

Before the Bubba Burger 250 at Richmond, Bayne was fifth in the Nationwide points standings.  Missing that race dropped him to seventh in the standings, 45 points behind leader Justin Allgaier.  If he misses the Darlington race, this will all but eliminate his chances for the Nationwide title.

Bayne’s next scheduled cup race for Wood Brothers Racing is the All-Star race on May 21st at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Update: Roush Fenway Racing driver Trevor Bayne will be released from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota Thursday and return to his home in North Carolina but is not expected to race this weekend at Darlington Raceway, according to SceneDaily.com [3].
