Following the announcement of the $150,000 fine Richard Childress Racing owner Richard Childress received for punching Kyle Busch after the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250, rumors started to circulate that Ryan Newman was fined $50,000 for punching Juan Pablo Montoya during a meeting at Darlington Raceway. The meeting stemmed from their incident in the Crown Royal Presents 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

On May 6th, Montoya and Newman were summoned to the NASCAR hauler for a meeting. NASCAR said that meeting did not go as they had hoped it would.

Both Newman and NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp declined to comment on whether or not Newman was fined.
