Stewart Haas Racing Releases Hutchens, Promotes Borland

Bobby Hutchens, who served as competition director for Stewart Haas Racing since 2009, has been released from the team. Matt Borland, who has served as technical director for the team since its inception, has been promoted to vice president of competition, Jayski is reporting. Borland will serve as interim director of competition. Once that position is filled, the new person will report to Borland.

Team owner Tony Stewart said:

[Huntchens] played an integral part in building Stewart-Haas Racing into a team that wins races and contends for championships. We’re grateful for all his hard work and dedication, and I am personally appreciative for the responsibilities he took on Friday through Sunday that allowed me to be just a driver.
