Jimmie Johnson to drive JR Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevy in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International next month, according to SceneDaily.com . Johnson will use the seat time to become better aquainted with the road course.
Johnson last drove in the Nationwide Series in October of 2008 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He finished 10th in a JRM Chevy.
Johnson joins team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr, Ron Fellows, Kasey Kahne, Danica Patrick, and Josh Wise as drivers who have been behind the wheel of the No. 7.
The announcement of Johnson in the car the the Glen leaves three races open on the remaining Nationwide Series circuit. Patrick is slated to appear in the car six more times this season, while Wise is behind the wheel at least four more times.
