Diet Mountain Dew To Replace Amp On No. 88 In 2012

PepsiCo will phase its Amp Energy brand off of the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy in 2012, replacing it with Diet Mountain Dew. ┬áDiet Mountain Dew will appear on Dale Earnhardt Jr’s car for 16 Sprint Cup races in 2012, with Amp Energy appearing on the car for four races.

PepsiCo has one year remaining on its contract with HMS and Earnhardt Jr, and company executives feel that Diet Mountain Dew will benefit more than Amp. A paint scheme for the 2012 Daytona 500 is expected to be unveiled next week.

Amp will still appear as an associate sponsor on the car.
