Richard Childress Racing has parted ways with Scott Miller, the team’s director of competition since 2003, FoxSports.com reported. Miller will take a short sabatical, then he will join Michael Waltrip Racing in a similar role. RCR promoted Kent Day to interim director of competition from his technical director position.

In related RCR news, Kevin Harvick received some pit crew help during the Chase. For the second consecutive season, Harvick received some crew members from teammate Clint Bowyer. In an effort to bolster RCR’s only Chase entry, front tire changer Jason Pulver, front tire carrier Austin Craven, rear tire changer Dustin Necaise, rear tire carrier Matt Kreuter and jack man Andrew Childers moved from Bowyer’s team Chevy to Harvick’s No. 29.
