NASCAR Announces Rule Changes For Talladega

[1]NASCAR has announced two rule changes for the Good Sam Club 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

The size of the restrictor plate will increase 1/64 inch to a 57/64 inch diameter, which should give teams seven to 10 more horsepower.

Additionally, the pressure relief valve on the cars’ cooling system will be adjusted to reduce the pressure by approximately eight pounds per square inch. That should shorten the amount of time two cars can run together without swapping spots.

NASCAR’s vice president of competition said:

After the last few superspeedway races, we’re heard many drivers express their desire to open up the size of the restrictor plate some and we thought the time was right to do that. We anticipate these revisions in the rules package for Talladega will help continue to provide competitive and exciting racing for the fans.
