Ford Replaces Erwin As Crew Chief For RPM’s No. 43

Mike Ford talks to Denny HamlinRichard Petty Motorsports has hired Mike Ford, former crew chief of Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, to serve in the same role for the team’s No. 43 Ford and driver Aric Almirola. He replaces Greg Erwin.

Ford will join the team immediately, and will be atop the pit box starting at this weekend’s race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Ford has led the No. 11 Toyota to the Chase for the Sprint Cup in each of the last six seasons, and he has 17 wins to his credit as a crew chief, with 66 top 5s, and 108 top 10s.

There has been no word on what will happen to Erwin.
