NASCAR announced that the No. 09 Nationwide Series team has been penalized for infractions found during post-race inspection following the STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.
Crew chief Scott Zipadelli has been fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Sept. 5 for violating Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4J (any determination by NASCAR officials that race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20A of the rule book or has not been approved by NASCAR prior to the event); 20A-2.3A (improperly attached weight); and 20A-2.4B (car failed to meet minimum weight requirements in post-race inspection).
Car chief Travis Young has also been put on NASCAR probation until Sept. 5.
Driver Kenny Wallace and owner Robby Benton have been each penalized with the loss of six championship driver and six championship owner points, respectively, for violating Sections 12-1; 12-4J; and 20A-2.4B.
Wallace finished fourth in the STP 300.
