Former Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series crew chief Tony “Pops” Eury Sr has joined R3 Motorsports’ Nationwide Series team to lead for the No. 23 car and driver Robert Richardson Jr.
Team owner Robert Richard Sr said:
We are excited to have Pops on board with us. We feel with what he brings to the table, this is our opportunity to get our program turned around and become more competitive.
I have known the Richardsons for a long time and am looking forward to working with Rob, Jr and the R3 Motorsports team. This is a great opportunity to get back to the race track and help this team achieve the performances I know they are capable of.
Richardson has one top 10 this season in nine starts, the first Top 10 of his career.
Eury Sr has earned 55 victories in the Cup and N’wide series, and served as crew chief and then competition director with JR Motorsports from 2007 to 2012. He also led his nephew, Dale Earnhardt Jr, to back-to-back Nationwide Series championships in 1998 and 1999.
