Truex Jr Fractured Wrist In Bristol Wreck

Martin Truex JrMartin Truex Jr broke his wrist in an accident that occurred in the IRWIN Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Truex has a fractured scaphoid bone in his right wrist.

The Michael Waltrip Racing driver was fitted with a cast that will allow him to grip the steering wheel better. He is not expected to miss any time behind the wheel, and he has been cleared to race in the AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

On lap 448 of the Food City 500, Truex Jr was racing with Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin, when Hamlin and Harvick got together sending the three into Ryan Newman and the outside retaining wall.

Truex’s car then slid down the track and made contact with the No. 30 of David Stremme and the No. 32 of Ken Schrader.

Truex immediately grabbed his wrist, video replays show.

Truex Jr joins Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart on a growing list of injured drivers this season. Stewart is out for the remainder of the 2013 Sprint Cup season after breaking his leg racing sprint cars. And, Hamlin missed six races after fracturing a vertebra during the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
