Dale Jr’s Rear Tire Changer Breaks Wrist

Dale Earnhardt JrHendrick Motorsports’ No. 88 rear tire changer, Joe Slingerland, broke his wrist during a team outing.

Slingerland was going through a ropes course at the US National White Water Center when he attempted to jump from a log to a cargo net. He missed the net and put his arm down to break the fall. He ended up breaking his wrist, falling backwards and hitting his head on a tree root. He was knocked out. He has a concussion.

Slingerland will be replaced by veteran tire changer David Mayo. Mayo was a part of the No. 48 team previously, and spent five years with Penske Racing.
