Germain Racing will switch to Chevy. The switch to Chevy will end a two-year relationship with Ford. Team owner Bob Germain informed Doug Yates, CEO of Roush Yates Engines, that the team would be switching to General Motors.
We value Germain Racing as a customer, and we hate to see them leave. We wish them well.
Germain will form a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing, which will include technology sharing, engineering, and research and development. Germain will now get their engines from Earnhardt Childress Engines.
RCR owner Richard Childress said:
We are very pleased to have a team like Germain Racing become our partner. Bob [Germain] and his team have worked very hard to become one of the better single-car teams over the past few years and we are looking to build on what they’ve already achieved. They’ve proven they can be winners by what they did in the Camping World Truck Series. Bob is an asset to this sport for wanting to improve the team’s performance and take them to the next level. We also look forward to having Casey back in the RCR family.
Germain Racing owner Bob Germain added: Richard Childress and RCR have an extremely competitive program with a long history of winning races and championships. They have great people and tremendous resources which will allow us to continue to improve our GEICO team’s performance in 2014 and beyond.
