NASCAR Takes Shock From Penske’s No. 22

NASCAR officials confiscated the right rear shock of Brad Keselowski’s Nationwide Series race-winning Ford after the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The confiscation does not mean that Keselowski or his Penske Racing team will be penalized. NASCAR takes parts from time to time to do a thorough inspection.

But, if NASCAR find that Keselowski’s shock is illegal, it could be anywhere from a P3 to P5 penalty, depending on the findings.

A P3 penalty carries a 15-point deduction and a fine. If Keselowski’s team is hit with a P5 penalty, that’s a 75-point loss, a fine, and a suspension. Because Keselowski doesn’t earn N’Wide points, the team would only lose owner’s points.
