Pit Crew Coach Leaving HMS

Hendrick Motorsports pit crew coach Lance Munksgard is leaving the organization to pursue an opportunity outside of racing, according to MRN.com.

Munksgard has overseen the No. 48 and No. 88 pit crews since the end of 2011. Last season, Munksgard helped Johnson’s team win a championship.

He also helped win back-to-back Daytona 500 victories, with the No. 48 in 2013, and the No. 88 this season.

Greg Morin, pit crew coach for the No. 5 and No. 24 teams of Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon, respectively, and Chris Krieg, assistant to Munksgard, will coach the Nos. 48 and 88 crews until a full time replacement can be hired.
