Montoya May Return To NASCAR

Team Penske is expected to announce that former NASCAR driver and current IndyCar driver Juan Pablo Montoya will return to the Sprint Cup Series in a third Penske Ford for select races.

He is slated to run the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. But, many expect his return to the Cup series to come before that.

He may run the Toyota – Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway and the Cheez-It 355 at the Glen at Watkins Glen International.

Greg Erwin is expected to be his crew chief. He last served as crew chief with Sam Hornish, when Hornish drove the No. 12 for Penske.

Update: Team Penske announced that Montoya will make two Sprint Cup Series starts for the team this year.

Montoya will drive the No. 12 SKF Ford in the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway in June, and he will drive in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a sponsor to be named later.

Ryan Blaney will also make two starts in the No. 12 Ford. He will drive in the 5-Hour Energy 400 Benefitting Special Operations Warrior Foundation at Kanasa Speedway, and he will drive in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in October.
