Francis Fined For ‘Dega Infraction

Kenny Francis, crew chief for Hendrick Motorsports’ No. 5 Chevy and driver Kasey Kahne, was penalized for rules violations found during post-qualifying inspection for the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.

The No. 5 team was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 12-4.3(A)1-c (unapproved added weight and/or weight affixed improperly) of the 2014 NASCAR rule book.

That infraction was a P3 penalty, and resulted in a $25,000 fine for Francis. Kahne’s qualifying time was also disallowed. He had to start in the back.
