Several Drivers Can Join Chase Mix At The Glen

If the chips fall just right, several drivers have an opportunity to join the Chase mix at the Cheez-It 355 at the Glen at Watkins Glen International.

Drivers like Marcos Ambrose, AJ Allmendinger, and Tony Stewart have good chances to win at the Glen, given their road course racing abilities. If one of them wins, it will propel them into the mix for a Chase spot. Martin Truex Jr could also be a dark horse to win this race, and move himself into Chase contention.

Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Aric Almirola, and Kurt Busch could clinch spots in the Chase if one of the drivers who has won a race this season wins at the Glen. If that happens, there will be 11 winners with four races to go, meaning that there could only be 15 winners, which means any driver who has won a race will be locked into the Chase.

But, if there is a new winner at the Glen, Busch is the only one who could lock in his spot, and it would be very difficult for him to do so.

If Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, or Clint Bowyer win, they could be high enough in the points to lock in a Chase spot. It would come down to whether or not they had enough points to guarantee a position ahead of the lowest ranked winner after Richmond.
