JGR Releases Wallace Jr

Joe Gibbs Racing has confirmed that they have released Darrell Wallace Jr from his contract, after Wallace, who finished third in the Camping World Truck Series standings this year, asked to be released.

JGR was unable to secure sponsorship to run Wallace full time in any NASCAR national series, so he asked for his release to seek a full time ride.

Rumor has it that Wallace will drive for Roush Fenway Racing in the Xfinity Series in 2015.

RFR will field cars for Elliott Sadler, Chris Buescher, and Ryan Reed next season.

Update: Darrell Wallace Jr will drive a fourth Roush Fenway Racing Ford in the Xfinity Series in 2015, according to Motorsport.com.

Chad Norris is expected to be his crew chief. Norris served as crew chief for Carl Edwards in the Sprint Cup Series, and most recently, Trevor Bayne in what is now known as the Xfinity Series.

No word on sponsorship or when a formal announcement will be made.

Update 2: Roush Fenway Racing announced that Darrell Wallace Jr will drive the team’s No. 6 Ford in 2015.
