Penske Would Consider A Third Cup Entry

If Ryan Blaney were to win the Daytona 500, Penske Racing would consider fielding a third full time entry in the Sprint Cup Series for him, team owner Roger Penske said.

If Blaney wins, he would become eligible for the Chase for the Championship, which is why Penske would consider it.

Blaney is schedule to run 18 races in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford, although in six of those races, he’ll receive support from Penske sponsors PPG, SKF and Snap-On Tools.

At this time, Blaney is not scheduled to run full time in any of NASCAR’s top three national series.

He will, however, be eligible for Rookie of the Year honors because he is running half of the Cup season.
