Long-time Nationwide Series team owner Jay Robinson has teamed up with Troy Blakeney to form Robinson-Blakeney Racing, which will field a Sprint Cup entry in 2012. Robinson owns Jay Robinson Racing, which fielded the No. 28 entry in the Nationwide Series last season with Derrike Cope and Dennis Setzer behind the wheel. The team also fielded the Nos. 48 and 49 in the series with a variety of drivers. The team also formed partnerships with several other N’Wide teams throughout the season, including R3 Motorsports.

Robinson said:

I am very excited about our new venture into the Cup series”, said team owner Jay Robinson” We have all of the cars and equipment in place. We will be running engines prepared by Race Engines Plus and are hoping to hire a driver very soon.

The team still plans to field the No. 28 N’wide car. Jeff Spraker and his Spraker Racing Enterprises group has been hired to head up that effort.

No word on sponsorship, driver, or crew chief.

After barely making the field due to high carbon monoxide levels — the result of breathing in exhaust fumes after damaging crush panels in his Sprint Cup COT — Brad Beselowski used a push from Joey Logano to take the lead before the caution came out for a fiery wreck, ending the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway. The victory was Keselowski’s first Nationwide Series victory of the season and it moved him into the lead in the points standings.

Keselowski was treated in the infield car center for excessive carbon monoxide levels. His level was said to be 13. The maximum allowable level to compete is 5. He underwent intense oxygen treatment, which brought his levels down right before the command to start engines.

Top 5: Keselowski, Logano, Kevin Harvick, Jason Keller, and John Borneman III.

Clint Bowyer, Tony Raines, Paul Menard, Brian Vickers, and Brian Scott finished sixth through 10th, respectively.

Notables: Kenny Wallace (11th), Scott Wimmer (12th), Jamie McMurray (14th), Justin Allgaier (15th), Jeff Green (16th), Chrissy Wallace (24th), Steve Arpin (26th), Brendan Gaughan (27th), Ricky Stenhouse Jr (29th), Colin Braun (32nd), Kyle Busch (34th), Carl Edwards (35th), Joe Nemechek (36th), Steve Wallace (39th), Reed Sorenson (40th), Jason Leffler (41st), Mike Wallace (42nd), Michael Annett (43rd).

Carl Edwards was running in the lead pack when Ricky Stenhouse Jr got into him in the tri-oval, sending him spinning through the grass. Edwards spun up the track into Mike Wallace, who hit Reed Sorenson, sending him into the wall. Steve Wallace, Brendan Gaughan, Michael Annett, Jason Leffler, James Buescher, and Clint Bowyer were involved.

Edwards made repairs and got back in the race. Later, however, he had a tire go down and he spun as the field passed him. He did not hit anything. He finished 35th.

Around lap 113, Colin Braun and Steve Arpin got together in the tri-oval which resulted in Braun hitting the wall and Arpin spinning to the inside. Several cars were involved including Kyle Busch.

On the green white checkered finish, Kevin Harvick led the field to the green with Jamie McMurray in second. On the final lap, McMurray with a push from Brian Vickers battled Harvick who was getting pushed by Clint Bowyer. Brad Keselowski moved to the outside making it three-wide, with a push from Joey Logano.

Bowyer ducked to the inside of Harvick for a second, but got right back in line. The move, killed his momentum and slowed Harvick a bit. Keselowski and Logano drove to the lead on the outside, with McMurray and Vickers in the middle.

As they entered turn 3, McMurray tried to dive in line between Harvick and Bowyer but there wasn’t enough room. He made contact with Bowyer and then spun in front of the field. McMurray spun into Vickers and Scott Wimmer. Wimmer hit Paul Menard who hit Dennis Setzer, sending him hard into the wall and the catchfence. His car climbed the wall. The front of the car caught the catchfence and spun on the top of the wall and burst into flames. Justin Allgaier then slid up the track and hit Setzer’s car. Brendan Gaughan also slid into the two cars.

The crash ended the race, as the leader had already taken the white flag. Keselowski earned the win. Everyone walked away from the wreck.

After a week in which Ron Hornaday admitted to using testosterone, he turned his focus to the track and dominated the Craftsman Truck Series Camping World RV Rental 200 Driven by Winnebago Industries from New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The win is his fifth of the season, but second place finisher Johnny Benson maintained his points lead.

Top 5: Hornaday, Benson, Travis Kvapil, Erik Darnell, and Rick Crawford.

Kyle Busch, David Starr, Brian Scott, Jack Sprague, and TJ Bell rounded out the top 10.

Notables: Matt Crafton (12th), David Reutimann (13th), Mike Skinner (15th), Dennis Setzer (16th), and Todd Bodine (19th).

With seven laps to go David Starr spun out Bodine. After the race ended, Bodine bumped Starr, then pulled next to him. On pit road, tempers flared and the two crews mixed it up. Bodine, stepped back and seemed to stay out of it.

Bodine said:

[Starr] just doesn’t know when to choke down the reins and slow down a bit.

Starr said:

I don’t have a problem with a driver coming over and wanting to come over and talk to me. But a crew member coming over and putting a finger in my face? That’s a totally different deal. I don’t play that way. To have a crew member come and put my window net down and put a finger in my face, I don’t play that game.
