Joe Denette Motorsports and Max Greshman have mutually agreed to part ways effective immediately, the team and the driver announced.

The split comes after eight races together in which their best finish was 18th in the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 200 at Rockingham Speedway in April.

The team posted an average finish of 23.8 in their eight races together and they sit 20th in points.

Greshman said in a press release:

I know everyone expected to do better than that. The guys at JDM are some of the hardest working I have ever been around and they did their best to give me great equipment week in and out. … Honestly, everybody did their best this year. Unfortunately, we just didn’t have the results to show for it.

Team owner Joe Denette said:

Obviously, we hate to see Max go. Max has been a great student of the sport with a wealth of natural talent and a friendly personality. Unfortunately, Joe Denette Motorsports was not the right fit for him. We wish Max the best of luck in the future and know without a doubt he will land on his feet.

Denette did not indicate whether or not he would continue to field the No. 24, but said he is committed to running the No. 9 truck with Ron Hornaday and competing at a championship level.

NASCAR has penalized Joe Denette Motorsports' Camping World Truck Series crew chief for violations found at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.

NASCAR has penalized Joe Denette Motorsports’ Camping World Truck Series crew chief for violations found at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.

JDM crew chief Chad Kendrick violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not confirm to NASCAR rules); 20B-16.3F (fuel container installation; unapproved fuel cell top rack location – top rack was not secure to the top of the fuel cell container); 12-4-K (if, in the judgment of NASCAR officials, race equipment that has been previously certified or previously approved and/or sealed by NASCAR for use in an event); and 20B-16.2B (unapproved modification to the certified fuel cell container; container exceeded outside dimensions) of the NASCAR rule book.

Kendrick has been fined $2,500 and suspended until September 7th, which equates to the next four Truck series events. He has also been placed on probation until the end of the calendar year.

The infractions were found during opening day inspection.

JDM appealed the penalty. Kendrick also issued a statement. He said:

I respect NASCAR for keeping a level playing field for all competitors. However, I don’t feel like the fuel cell in question was an illegal part. My history in this sport should indicate that there was no intent to deceive NASCAR’s rulebook. I feel that the penalty handed down by NASCAR was extensive for this particular violation and hope that the appeal board will consider our case due to the evidence we have to present.

While the penalty is being appealed, Kendrick will remain crew chief for the No. 23 truck.
