Todd Bodine is taking over driving duties of Kirk Shelmerdine’s No. 27 Toyota Camry in the Gatorade Duel. Shelmerdine was not locked into the Daytona 500, and decided to put Bodine in the car because there are only two qualifying spots available in each duel.
Jeff Gordon held off driver/owner Tony Stewart to win the first Gatorade Duel. The victory means Gordon will start Sunday’s Daytona 500 third.
