JR Motorsports has signed Kelly Bires to drive one of its Nationwide Chevys next season, replacing Brad Keselowski, who is leaving to join Penske Championship Racing in Sprint Cup next season. While Bires is Keselowski’s replacement, it has not been decided whether he will run the No. 5 or No. 88.
Carl Edwards overcame a last-place starting spot and a broken foot to win the Va. 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway. This is the third time Edwards started a Nationwide race in last place, and went on to win.
Kevin Harvick passed Dale Earnhardt Jr on the penultimate lap of the Degree V12 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and then held off Kyle Busch, who passed Earnhardt Jr on the last lap, to win the race.

Carl Edwards capitalized on a rare mistake by Marcos Ambrose on the final turn of the final lap to win the Nationwide Series’ NAPA Auto Parts 200. Ambrose dominated for most of the day, and held off a hard-charging Edwards until the final turn, where Ambrose hit the curb and went airborne. Ambrose lost momentum, allowing Edwards to sneak pass him coming to the checkered flag.
SceneDaily is reporting that JD Motorsports has signed Mike Wallace to drive its No. 01 entry in the Nationwide Series for the remainder of the season, starting with this weekend’s race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Wallace replaces Danny O’Quinn Jr. in the ride.
