AJ Allmendinger will take over driving duties for Bobby Labonte in JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47 for five races this season, to offer a fresh opinion. The goal is to refine the team’s direction as it develops its Gen-6 Camrys.
NASCAR has penalized three Sprint Cup Series teams for infractions found during opening day inspection at Talladega Superspeedway: Michael Waltrip Racing’s Nos. 00 and 56, and JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47.
JTG Daughtery owners Tad and Jodi Geschickter and Brad Daugherty announced that Bobby Labonte would return to the team in 2012 to drive the No. 47 JTG Toyota Camry in the Sprint Cup Series.
JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter indicated that JTG would continue its technical alliance with Michael Waltrip Racing, but would move to its own shop in 2012.
NASCAR has penalized Germain Racing’s No. 13 and JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47 teams for rule violations at Texas Motor Speedway. The crew chiefs were fined and placed on probation for the rest of the season. The teams each lost 50 owner’s points and 25 driver’s points. Two other teams received fines and probation, as well.
