Hill To Drive For FAS Lane Racing In 2013

FAS Lane Racing announced that 2011 Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year Timmy Hill will drive the team’s No. 32 U.S. Chrome Ford in the Sprint Cup Series in 2013.

Hill joined FLR in 2012, running three races towards the end of the season. He finished a career-high 22nd place at Kansas Speedway.

Veteran drivers Terry Labonte and Ken Schrader will share seat time with Hill to fill out the entire 2013 Cup schedule. Hill will race 18 to 20 races, allowing him to compete for Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year.

Swan Racing To Debut Next Season With Stremme

Swan Racing is set to debut next Sprint Cup Series season with David Stremme behind the wheel. Brandon Davis, CEO of Swan Energy Inc., an independent oil and gas company, purchased the assets of Inception Racing and renamed the team Swan Racing. Davis is also a dirt-modified driver in the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). He said:

Swan Racing is here to race competitively every week the days of starting and parking are over. I am confident that we are putting together the personnel to one day produce a championship contender.

Davis has hired Steve Hmiel to be Swan Racing’s director of competition. Hmiel brings a wealth of experience with him to Swan Racing, serving as crew chief for drivers such as Terry Labonte, Mark Martin, and Dale Earnhardt Jr, among others. Hmiel served in a similar role with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.

Labonte To Drive For FAS Lane Racing In Daytona 500

Terry Labonte will drive the No. 32 Ford for FAS Lane Racing in the 2012 Daytona 500, the team announced. Labonte drove the season-opener last year and finished 15th with the team.

The No. 32 will feature sponsorship from C&J Energy Services.

In related news, Michael Waltrip Racing struck a deal with FLR in which MWR would get FLR’s owner’s points from 2011 — the team finished 34th in the owner’s standings — to guarantee Mark Martin a starting spot in the 2012 Daytona 500.

FLR could still be locked into the field because Labonte is eligible for a past champion’s provisional. Ken Schrader is also scheduled to drive some races in the No. 32 with sponsorship coming from Federated Auto Parts.

Labonte To Drive For Front Row Motorsports At The Glen

Terry Labonte will drive the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports Ford at Watkins Glen International, the team announced. This will be Labonte’s first time back at the track since 2007.

The car will be sponsored by Long John Silver, and will feature a decal to raise awareness for the Jenni-Lyn Watson Memorial Fund. Jenni-Lyn Watson was a 20-year-old college student and aspiring ballerina from Central New York who was tragically murdered last November in a case that drew national attention. The decal encourages fans to donate to the memorial fund.

Terry Labonte will drive FAS Lane Racing’s No. 32 Ford in four Sprint Cup series races beginning in this weekend’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway. The No. 32 will be sponsored by C&J Energy Services when the former Sprint Cup champion is behind the wheel. The company will also serve as associate sponsors with FAS Lane for the remainder of the season.

Labonte will also drive the car at Daytona International Speedway in July, Bristol Motor Speedway in August, and Talladega Superspeedway in October.

Two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Terry Labonte will be back in the driver’s seat of FAS Lane Racing’s No. 32 Ford in the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. Terry Labonte will run the Daytona 500 driving the No. 32 Ford of FAS Lane Racing, a Sprint Cup team formed by former crew chief Frank Stoddard. Mike Skinner is set to drive the car for the remainder of the season. U.S. Chrome will serve as primary sponsor on the car for the 500. No word on whether Labonte will enter the Bud Shootout, but FLR does not plan to run the Shootout.

Stavola Labonte Racing, the team Labonte helped form last year, planned on running in 2011. No word on that team’s plans.

Terry Labonte To Run Three Cup Races This Season

Jayski is reporting via FoxSports.com that Terry Labonte will drive three races in a car fielded by Billy Stavola. Cars and engines will be provided by Richard Childress Racing. Labonte will drive Stavola Labonte Racing’s No. 10 car in the One Last Race To Make The Chase at Richmond International Raceway in September, the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in October, and the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in November.

Truex Jr. Takes Daytona 500 Pole

Martin Truex Jr. drove his Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Bass Pro Shops No. 1 Chevrolet to the pole for next Sunday’s Daytona 500 with a lap of 188.001 mph.

Mark Martin, driving the No. 5 Kelloggs Chevy of Hendrick Motorsports, will start outside row one in second position with a speed of 187.817 mph.

While the rest of the positions will be set by the results of the Gatorade Duels on Thursday, the top three of the ”go or go home” cars are locked in to the Daytona 500. Those drivers are Bill Elliott, Tony Stewart, and Travis Kvapil.

Terry Labonte is also locked in the show because of his past champion’s provisional. He can race his way in, but if he fails to do that, he will claim the 43rd starting spot.

Labonte To Attempt Daytona 500

Terry Labonte will attempt to make this year’s Daytona 500 in a Toyota Camry fielded by newly formed Prism Motorsports, which is co-owned by former Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series driver Phil Parson.

The No. 66 entry will be sponsored by Window World for the 500, and the company is looking at sponsoring additional races with the team.

Following the 500, Dave Blaney, former driver of Bill Davis Racing’s No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge, then Toyota, will take over in the No. 66.

Labonte is second in line for the past champions provisional behind Tony Stewart.

Prism has also formed a technical alliance with Michael Waltrip Racing.
